International MBBS Student at Jiujiang University Publishes SCI Paper on Stroke and Sleep Apnea
Jiujiang, June 12, Toheed Aqdas, Pakistani, an undergraduate Clinical Medicine (MBBS) student at Jiujiang University, has successfully published a first-author research article in the SCI-indexed journal Nature and Science of Sleep.
The paper, titled "Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome and Ischemic Stroke: Investigating Inflammatory Mechanisms," was published in Volume 18 of the journal in 2026. The study provides a systematic overview of the pathophysiological link between sleep apnea and ischemic stroke, highlighting key inflammatory mechanisms and potential therapeutic strategies for these intersecting conditions.

The publication marks a significant achievement for undergraduate research at the university. According to the official certificate from Dove Medical Press, the editorial coordinator confirmed the paper’s publication on June 5, 2026. The co-authors include a team of researchers: Zihao Zhang, Ziqing Zhu, Zhiying Chen, Xiaoqun Liu, Wenmin Yu, and Rui Yuan.
Expressing her gratitude, Aqdas acknowledged her supervisors, co-authors, and Jiujiang University for their guidance and support.
